[Harp-L] SPAH

In the SPAH of 1965, there were no conventions, no seminars and no diatonic players.  You played solo chromatic or trio stuff.  By 1985, SPAH hosted a convention with  eight seminars.  One was even on the diatonic harmonica since by that time Peter "Madcat" Ruth had destroyed the old SPAH.  SPAH rewarded Madcat with the Bernie Bray Award in 1997.  During the conventions of the 1990's (the so-called Golden Years), SPAH members could choose from about 30 different seminars.  At the 2010 convention, SPAH presented more than 65 seminars covering every type of harmonica and musical style.   SPAH lives it's mandate of being all inclusive and it has changed considerably since its inception.  The organization will change again over the next few years, as the people who have worked so very hard for SPAH, try to get on with their real lives.  Now's a really good time to get involved because "the times, they are a changin'".
