A friend occasionally pays [for gas and lodging etc.] to travel to a
singer-songwriters in the round event in Naples on the other side of the
State.  That's because Alan Jackson lives nearby the venue and occasionally
stops in on Sing-Write nite to hear new stuff.

If he likes one of her songs, she can then get paid! Alot!
