You could ask for "shuffle" or "swing shuffle" or "swing". A good thing to do is get with the drummer and vocalize the beat you want, "DIZH, dizh-da-DIZH, dizh-da-DIZH, dizh-da-DIZH," or whatever. Another thing to do is identify a well-known song with a similar groove and say, "It's like such-and-so."
