I've tried one wooden comb for a Special 20 and quickly realized that the lack of recessed plates was a major shortcoming of a wooden Spec 20 comb. The air tightness of the Special 20s recessed plates on the plastic comb is what makes the Special 20 what it is. 

Maybe I didn't goof around with it enough to get it right, but I don't think any non-recessed Special 20 comb will satisfy me.
