You know, I have an honest question and I don't care who it offends. Why are
people so mean on forums? Is it that it empowers them, feeds their ego?
Example: yesterday I posted on here about making chromatic combs. It was an
honest question, I didn't know if there was a market for it. I thought of
posting on Sleidmeister, but their listed policy was very specific on
vendors. I mentioned on on here, that I was concerned/apprehensive about
posting on that forum. So I just posted on good ole' harp-l to see what
people thought. Many of you were nice and gave me your opinions and advice.
Some assured me that Sleidmeister was ok to post. All good information and
helpful.
THEN, I get this long email from some lady (I will not say her name) acting
as if she was the forum police accusing me of character assassination of the
guy that runs Sleidmeister and just terrorizing me for an innocent post.
Why do people do this? Surely they would not treat someone in person that
way. Are forums an avenue for people to act out their character defects?
This is why I rarely post because people get their egos all plumped up and
feel like they have to shout down from the mountain at people when they
don't like their post. I mean do these people have lives? I know the only
reason I am posting right now is because I got laid off. Otherwise I woudn't
be messing with this dribble.
A few months ago, I posted on Adam Gussow's forum about custom harps and
making combs and I was so terrorized by people that I suspended my account
the same day.
WTF?
