I mark the key of harps with paint pens. Be sure to see "oil based" or
"enamel" on the label. Latex and water-based paints will rub off with
handling, and you'll be re-doing them more often.

I've tried several brands. Right now settled on Sharpie. The trick is to
shake the pen to mix the paint, then draw and dab on paper until you have
the right load of paint in the tip. If you goof, it's easy to wipe off
immediately while wet (on plastic combs)
