Re: [Harp-L] Effects pedal that would sound like an accordian?
Having had the privilege of being seated at a table where Jerry Deviller
was holding forth it became clear to me that how one makes a harmonica
sound like an accordion is by technique and not effects or even the
harmonica one chooses. A long while back I played with a guitar player
who did a dead on imitation of a banjo played on an electric guitar. No
effects were employed. It was all about his picking patterns.
Listening to tangos played on chromatic harmonica you can hear very good
players achieve a bandoneon sound and again it is not at all about
pedals. It's just how they get to the notes. Listening to the really
good Irish style harmonica players the same thing is apparent, technique
is what creates the convincing sound.
Here's a Jerry Deviller youtube, recorded by Richard Sleigh. Really
great stuff. fjm
