What Michel Easton describes works very well. I've been doing it
with my Super Reverb RI and my Princeton Reverb RI. I plug into the
#2 input, set the amp's volume for the "sweet spot" (typically 6 or
7) then roll off volume using the VC on my 545 Ultimate to set the
overall performance volume and control feedback. The resulting tone
(and depth of tone) from these amps is great and feedback problems
are minimal. No need use an anti-feedback device. What Michael
recommends is, IMHO, a VERY practical and reliable technique for
getting optimum tone from these amps and controlling feedback under
varying performance conditions.
Btw, neither the Super, the Princeton nor Michael's Deluxe have
Master volume controls. My Super is tubed down, but my Princeton is
not. Personally, I don't like using an amp with a master vc for
harp. Conceptually, a master vc seems like a good idea, but in
practice, I don't think it's well suited to optimizing an amp's sound
for harp. But. YMMV.
