[Harp-L] Re: Line out question

I asked Gary when I bought my Avenger since my first gig using  it was  
outdoors and I needed to know if a direct box was required.
Gary recommends using a direct box for the line out on all SJ amps  
that have a line out to the pa.

I found it best to use a passive box rather then active. I own both.   
An active box uses a battery and depending on the wiring of the venue
is prone to picking up radio signals.  I couldn't use it at one bar I  
played because it picked up a local radio station loud and clear.  I  
had to switch over to a passive box
which I later mounted to the inside bottom of my amp.  It's there when  
needed.

The boxes are easy to unscrew and there isn't much inside. I drilled a  
hole through mine and mounted it to a low watt amp I was using at the  
time.  I don't want to drill holes in the
Avenger cab so I mounted the box with heavy duty velcro.   IT's wise  
to buy your own direct box and perhaps a good quality 50 ft. mic cable  
if the sound man doesn't have a "snake."
