[Harp-L] Soul....and feeling......

At the SPAH event in Dallas I had the good luck to take Robert B, Mike Turk and Paul Oscher into the city to do a live one hour radio show on the local NPR station. Each was there to demonstrate exceptional musical range of the instrument.

Robert opened and played a short classical piece, talking about the history of the instrument in classical music and especially the relationship of John Sebastian's dad (identified as such) to classical composers.

This was not long after 9/11. When the host asked Robert what he wanted to play as his final piece, Robert told a moving story about living in NYC, his relationship to some fo the firemen there, and said he felt it appropriate to play something for them.

He then proceeded to play the most beautiful, soulful, emotional version of Danny Boy I have ever heard. People in the audience were hushed, and by the end of the piece many were teary-eyed. It was one of those rare moments in music where you experience something that has the otherworldly beauty and emotional power that only music can offer the human race.

Don't let anyone EVER tell you Robert has no soul. Or that his music lacks emotional depth. TOM ELLIS
