[Harp-L] "Bonfiglio Moments"......

In the interest of lightening up the recent TONE here on the "L" I would
like to share two moments in time that I shared with Robert Bonfiglio. Both
of these made a big impact on me and my harmonica journey for sure. Being a
self taught diatonic ear player, my earlier SPAH experiences were filled
with awe and intimidation of the intense talent pool. This Bonfiglio dude
blowing his classical "gas" really made me feel unable to share the same
"space" with the man. Then these two things happened:

1) Not sure which SPAH it was, maybe Dallas, we had a keg in the middle of
the blues jam circle. I was only a few feet away in the circle from Rob.
There he was, Mr. Top -O-The Heap Classical virtuoso swilling draft beer
with me and blowin' blues licks even I could figure out. I was sharing the
same space. The mystique and awe was gone. He was just a regular guy that
worked his ass off to be what he wanted to be.

2) Kansas City SPAH, Mike Bruce from Mississippi had the wheels to take a
small crew of us out to dinner. All of us in the car were like giddy little
kids on a road trip. Of course we got lost in the strange town and Rob was
as silly as the rest of us sharing some "road" stories. If he had his hair
in pigtails that night I surely would have yanked them. That is when the
smell of Classical "gas" left me for ever. Just a regular dude with
supernatural talent/work ethic.

I have never met Buddy Greene. Perhaps some one can pick up from here and
share some "Buddy" or we can keep beatin' on Bobby stories!
