"Alford" is what my not so smartphone thought I was trying to type and
auto-miscorrected to. Sorry about that! Anyway there are actually two
versions of "Alfie's Theme" on the Sonny Rolliins soundtrack lp, but neither
is the Bacharach tune. There's a longer version and later a shorter but
harder swinging reprise. Both are superb. Rollins occasionally returned to
the theme in his live performances but I don't think he ever recorded
Bacharach's composition.
