I got by for years in a fairly hardcore bluesband with 4 harps, A C D and 
little used G.When a new guitarist insisted on playing in, Gasp, F ,C or 
other exotic keys I learnt 3rd position.;-)
In reality I also ended up with a full set of harps.
Its a piece of string question really in that you need the harps on stage 
that you need for the tunes your going to play.
I see that your playing some Irish music music so you might need ,for 
instance, a G plus another G set up for paddy tuning.
A local guitarist I know has one harp jammed in his back pocket all night 
for an occasional blast on a tune but a local harp player who plays out a 
lot has a case with at least 40 diatonics in it.He can cover any 
eventuality.

How many harps do you guys bring to one show that you actually will use 
during the gig? I am currently gigging with only 5 right now, but I am doing 
mostly blues/country/irish gigs. I am trying to save up some $ to upgrade my 
amp setup..
