[Harp-L] Re: Some Garden St. Info (Mike Easton)
Like some of you I've been late in registering and booking a room for
the fest. I arrived with no preregistration last year.
The hotel manager has assured me that the GSH rate of $109 plus tax
will be available for all who reserve a room, both before and even a day after
the Festival.
However, if you want to attend the "Sat. dinner and show", you must book and pay
that in advance. There are no guarantees that you will be able to attend, as we must pre-pay for the dinners.
I called the Holiday Inn yesterday. I was told the rooms that were
set aside were all booked and that I may have to pay full
price for a room. I was told to contact "Group Services" to perhaps
get the discount rate. They said some rooms were unbooked for the
days I wanted so
they granted me the festival rate. The normal rate is $130 per
day. Fest rate is $109. Ask for Group Services if you still need to
book a room.
Sorry that you had that experience, as there might have been
a new person at the front desk who gave you the wrong information.
For reservations, call: (201) 288-9600, be sure to ask for the
discounted Garden State Harmonica rate, as mentioned on our website.
After all reservations are made, I will have the manager check to be sure that
all of our attendees are given the correct rate. Contact me if any of you
experience any similar problems. Looking forward to seeing many of
you at the Festival!
I was also told the Festival goer's check in time is 3pm rather then
noon so don't bother rushing to get there by noon to unpack no matter
what day you arrive.
The check in time here and at most hotels is 3:00. If the rooms are ready earlier, you will be able to check in then.
The hotel has a storage room where
you can leave your luggage until the room is ready.
You DO want to arrive much earlier than 3:00, as our seminars begin
at 10:00 on Thursday, and 9:00 on Friday and Saturday, including
registration. You will miss a great deal of the Festival if you arrive late.
See Bass harp's International Gig list for our most updated list of seminars
and performers and visit our website at: www.gardenstateharmonicaclub.org
with some great Festival promos and further information.
Don't forget that we are having an evening pre-festival Nov.17th "Jersey Jazz and Blues Blast
featuring Rob Paparozzi, Angelo Adamo, Ron Kalina and "open mic" for you
play with a trio, at Trumpets Jazz Club.
Take your shower before you make the trip. lol
Seize ya there.
Seize ya there, too!
