You can shorten it. Score it deep with a utility knife so you have a clean edge.

Where ,oh where can I find an 8 hole blow reed for a D Seydel harmonica. I searched Seydels site but only came up with plates, screws. Also, I took a reed from a Hohner but it is longer than a Seydel. Can I shorten it ? thanks, Jim
