I know Jason Ricci has a large following in Colorado, including a lot of
Harp-L members. If you are planning to attend his show at the Boulder
Outlook this weekend, please take note of the following information.
Jason's actual concert in Boulder is Friday night -- his website and the
Harp-L Gig List also show him playing Saturday, but he is just hosting a
blues jam on Saturday, not playing a full show.
Moreover, both of these performances are accessible only within the
context of the venue's "Shipless Blues Cruise" event. In other words,
you have to buy a package deal to see Friday's concert, Saturday's Bob
Margolin show, any other supporting acts, or the blues jams. The Outlook
is selling full-weekend passes that include a hotel room, or you can buy
"music only" passes for each day (Friday is $40, Saturday is $50). The
venue is NOT selling individual concert tickets. So if all you want to
see is Jason's show, too bad. I just spoke with the hotel manager, and
he won't even make an exception for the band's publicist (me) and a few
friends.
Just wanted to give a heads up to everyone who makes the rounds for
Jason whenever he's on the Front Range. If you're not interested in a
larger (and more expensive) package of musical events, the closest
alternative is to see Jason play at Toad Tavern in Littleton on Thursday
night. On the plus side, Thursday's opening act is Reckless Red
featuring Harp-L's own Mojo Red on harmonica. See you there!
