[Harp-L] Re: Bushman

I've had limited experience with the DF and the one I bought may not be typical, but it did not last long at all before flatting. Retuning didn't work, in fact the reed broke easily. I'm a pretty hard bender and am probably hard on harps, but this one didn't cut it. I'd heard that the reed plates were interchangable with Suzuki Bluesmaster (they are), and I had a SB that I carried as my pocket harp and beat the crap out of and it performed well for an unbelievable amout of time and sounded killer. When it finally went belly up (would not tune either), I bought a set of DF plates from Rockin' Ron's. It came with a new DF comb, so I just switched covers. It doesn't seem to have the tone that the harp had before, but works. I generally play old school Marine Bands, but try everything I can afford. If you like the old style covers, I'd say try one or if you prefer the smoother style, the Suzuki's the same bet. Since both are reasonablly priced, you're
not out much if you're not pleased.     Lare Sattler   The Little Chicago Band   Canton, Ohio
