Subject: [Harp-L] Oral Hygene

Don: I think you're fairly safe with sugar free drinks ...but you could
always follow them with a swig of water just before you play - which should
then ensure no 'stickiness' in your harmonicas. People play after drinking
all sorts of substances: coffee, tea, alcoholic drinks....most of all of
which contain some level of sugar which can help gum up the reeds.

For my part - plenty of water both before and during playing seems to
keep my reeds and valves clean and any problems from occurring.

I'm a "re-beginner" but I'm paranoid about getting something in my
harmonicas. I drink a lot of sugar free soda....Coke, Pepsi, etc. Is this a
problem? Water only?

Thanks,

Don
