Re: [Harp-L] Cotton

Got to see Cotton play last Friday night. As most of you know, he plays sitting down now. He was playing a vocal mic (SM58?) through the PA in a medium sized concert venue. Nice crowd. He was hampered in the first half of the show when his mic didn't work and he had to play thru a mic one of his band members handed him. He was better when he got his own mic working, but he's definitely showing his age. Man, though, what a hot band he's got. And people loved the show.
First harp show I've been to in quite a while and it was good to watch him. Seems to me that he plays a lot of things that include more than one note at a time and sometimes I was bothered by those choices. But who am I to criticize?

I saw him playing in Buenos Aires months ago. I felt it was a gift just to see him coming into the stage. He was happy and cheered the band to play one tune after another. I was also wondering how many legends in any genre have that spirit. I love these people that show their age. They are the true old musicians I die to listen... and see, every time the come down here.
