RE: [Harp-L] Questions for chromatic players ... and others (?)
I'm a bit surprised by the title of these interesting emails about scales
... eh eh
Just kidding, but many of diatonic players do practice scales nowadays.
I give lessons once in a while, and if most of my students don't want to
hear about scales, some have asked me how to practice them, even after just
two years of blues harp practice (which means they already play all 12 notes
on their regular blues harp).

Yes I think so!
Work on scales in one particular key, until you can play those scales
without conscious thought. Then jam along with a recording in that
particular
key... ANY recording!
Don't try to learn all the keys at once, take them one at a time.
If you want to work "from the dots", get a flute music excercises book. A
regular "C" chromatic covers the same "range" as a flute.
Within a month you will be able to play in all keys, if you set your mind
to it, and practice every day.
Kind regards!
