Glad you found that useful Beth - Spotify's amazing so I hope you can get it soon, you can use it with the iphone and a lot of mobiles (sorry cellphone's to you) now too - I'm saving up for a Nokia 5800 myself which is about the cheapest one it works with - if anyone's got a compatible phone to sell or knows of a good deal, please contact me off list!  

Another nice thing is that you can send links to tracks via Facebook and Twitter - a more appropriate answer to illegal file sharing than threatening people with lawsuits methinks!

    The Levine book's great isn't, it's a slightly intimidating beast but that's because it's so authoritative.  I like the way he gives examples of what he's discussing from actual jazz recordings, I sometimes write the examples out in Sibelius, so I can hear them as if they're played on a Stylophone at slower tempos.  The other thing I like to do is to find the recordings he's talking about on Spotify, it's a great way of expanding your knowledge of jazz recordings and repertoire too.
