David, I use the Boss GE-7 EQ pedal. They are built like a tank, so
used Boss pedals are okay. You can spend a lot more, but why?
The GE-7 has a Level control that gives you up to 15db of overall cut or
boost, which is handy if your mic output is weak.
I cut the highest and lowest bands, and slightly boost the low-mids. It is
the first pedal in my chain, followed by a delay pedal and the BBE Sonic
Stomp. I leave all the pedals on all the time. It sounds good.
