I would never soak anything with a pearwood comb, not even for a second. I destroyed the comb of an Echo tremolo, made of that same timber I believe, by so doing a few years ago. I also question the application of soap to windsavers, what with those double flaps that could trap the suds.  Another hazard is the toothbrush.  One stroke of the reeds in the wrong direction and it's bye-bye reeds (and valves). The best advice is to, er, check with attested experts, I reckon...
