Re: [Harp-L] Musicianship ... Process based or results based?2

Thanks so much for posting this...
I live a few miles down the road from neil...He lives on an amazing ranch.
The guy puts on private concerts in a roadhouse bar here before he goes on tour.
You get a call from a friend and a colored bracelet gets you in...very hush hush. Free too.
His band uses vintage tweed fender amps and the sound guy just takes that sound and mixes it perfectly...
not loud...just perfect...
He has a way of taking it down to it's funky core...

I never want to cover his tunes...
but whenever we do...
people love to sing along.
With Neil it is about being a little off key...
like some blues players ...it adds tension and emotion...
Not everybody digs it.....I love the guy.

At this time...he used to come into the little country restaurants and play harmonica with the dishwashers ( Little Steven up on Skyline got quite good).
Saw Steve Earle this summer and he had the same harp for effect kind of thing going...folky funky...not trying too hard..
He is worth seeing.
Grant

James Taylor and Carol King will be touring this summer together.
