Re: [Harp-L] Re: Chris Michalek R.I.P.

Deepest sympathies to the Michalek family in Minneapolis and in AZ to his wife Laurie.

I first met Chris at Paul Messinger's home in NC at the Howard Levy
Masterclass and was very impressed by his talents on the Harmonica.

A few years after that I was invited by Chris to perform and attend the World Harmonica Summit in the Twin Cities. Not only was this an amazing event he put together and performed at with his own band, but he brought in Howard Levy & Toots Thielemans and had them on stage for this legendary event, not many people could EVER pull that off !

We stayed in touch over the years via emails and his was very generous
always sending me things like harp mics and never wanting any money for
them.....

I saw him at SPAH in Sacramento and he called me aside and gave me a Buddha
Harp, I offered him $$ but he said he wanted me to have it as we were
friends.....

He has helped MANY players achieve new heights in their playing and his
diatonic like Howard his mentor, knew NO limits whatsoever..

Tonight I will take out my "Buddha Harp" at my show and play a solo piece
for Chris, I know he'll be listening...

Rest well My Friend & we'll all play at different kinda' harp gathering
someday, which I'm SURE you are already organizing with no cover charge,-)!
