Thank you Vern for your very sensible analysis of the speed limits of
various instruments.  Funny you should mention wholetone triplets as a
bottleneck on chromatic harmonica. Over on Slidemeister I've posted about
the Legato tuning for Chromatic and how its ability to smoothly execute
wholetone triplets is one of it's greatest advantages over Solo tuning.
Classic bebop from the forties often uses those wholetone triplets and to my
ears most Solo tuned chromatic just doesn't sound quite right key in that
idiom when those triplets are omitted.
