John Mayall is also still on this earth, far as I know. Oh, and for some reason it seems like he's  kind of uncool for harp players to mention, but: Magic Dick. And what about Micky Rafael? It's such a subjective thing, a list of "the best." Best harp players I personally know are Bill Barrett (who is known for chromatic, but still.....); Jon Paris (who perhaps is known more as a guitar player); and this guy named Magic who I haven't seen in years, but is totally amazing (I doubt anyone outside SoCal has heard of him), as good as anybody out there. Like I said, it's subjective.
