Using a Bb harp for G minor is FOURTH position. Fifth position uses
an Eb harp for G minor.
i suspect your regular use of minor tuned harps has put you out of
practice with respect to characterizing minor key positions on
Richter tuned harps.
But, yeah, the problem with using third position as a one size fits
all position for minor key playing is the major 6th. Third position
is fine for dorian minors. For natural minors, fifth or fourth
position works better since you have the minor 3d, 6th and 7th w/o
having to bend. I think it's easier to play with blues phrasing in
fifth position, though.
