Haven't tried the Phil Jones amps. I checked them out online, and they look good, but I couldn't find pricing--my guess is that as a boutique amp maker, their prices are generally higher than Peavey's.
Regarding the KB2, It's not possible to turn off the horn--it's integrated into the main speaker, and there's a crossover inside the amp to divert high frequency content to it. But why would you want to, anyway?
