In two weeks the travels of many in the harmonica community will lead to
Bloomington, MN. Last years event in Sacramento was a big success with
record breaking numbers. This year the verdict is still out on how many will
attend. The "walk in's" will tell the final story. So far we are looking
real strong with pre-registrations. The word is out: this is the event you
don't wanna miss if you can make it. The 47 year tradition of SPAH
conventions is that the list of who just "showed up" is as grand as the list
of headliners hired for the gig! The real stars as usual will be the
"average attendees". The folks that make this whole harmonica thing worth
while. In this "Crazy Mixed Up World" we all share a common thread. The
harmonica's are incidental. It's the unique quality and shapes of the hearts
that we all possess. Nothing beats waking up in a strange hotel in a strange
city, taking the trip down the elevator and as the door opens up you get a
"rush" of human energy created by like minded souls. The sound track is a
symphony of brass and stainless steel reeds wailing in the wind. It comes
from all directions. It is a sandbox of sound that just begs you to grab
your pail and shovel.
Safe final preparations and travels you harmonica road warriors. To all that
stay behind tending to the realities of life. Safe travels for you as well.
We will be thinking of you and will do our best to share the fun.
