Re: [Harp-L] Suggested for mythbusters
Mythbusters use of the word "myth" is applied to any urban legend. They either confirm the myth, deem it plausible or bust it. They examine the possibilies.
Here's an explanation of the display. Some deflected bullets, probably saving a serious wounding or a life, some of those harmonicas probably just made things worse by putting unsanitary harmonica bits into wounds. Some of the harmonicas in the pockets German Harmonica Museum in Trossingen obviously deflected bullets. Some, interestingly enough, have exit holes where the bullet went through the harmonica.
Germans made, i think, 8 billion 8mm rounds in WWII, the allies I'm sure had several times that many shooting at the Germans and their harmonicas. You got that many bullets flying around, anything's possible. On the tests I did a while back with the British .303 rifle, as a general rule, the bullets passed right through, on rare occasions, I got deflection. As a general rule, the harmonicas played really leaky after being shot with a .303.

How do you explain the display at the Hohner Harmonica Museum in Trossingen that has, on display, harmonicas w/bullet's lodged in them from world wars, saving German soldier's lives?
I suggested the mythbusters take up the harmonica in the pocket stopping bullets
>myth.
