Valves *are* windsavers; two different words for the same.

Diatonics are usually half-valved: only the lower note in each hole gets a
valve; the high note of the pair is left unvalved. What this gives you is
the ability to do chromatic-style valved bends on the blow 1 through 6 holes
and draw 7 to 10 without interfering with the normal lower-hole draw and
upper-hole blow bends. PT Gazell is the master of this.

Note that overblows and overdraws are impossible on a valved harrmonica.
