Reading the various articles on the Fluxtone website it becomes clear
that these are not just speakers. What they do is allow you to vary the
output of the amplifiers you are using by 25 dB. They employ what the
call variable magnetic technology. Sounds like they can make the
speaker be very inefficient and not nearly as loud but without losing
any of the tone of the amplifier. They start at $550 and top out at
$850. The exponsive versiuon is a Celestion which isn't cheap in a
regular version. They're over $300 in an unmodded version. It would be
interesting to hear one of these installed in an amplifier. You get a
box along with the speaker and the box has a volume control on it. The
speakers have modified magnet assemblies. Somebody is making these one
off. That's why they cost so much. fjm
