[Harp-L] kfk-1

Leo,

Excellent device. When I had a Blues Jr. I used to use the less expensive MXR 10 band EQ which is the same thing as the KFK-1 except it's mono and is AC powered only (the KFK is stereo and can use batteries). The freqs available for adjustment on these boxes are useful and harmonica friendly. Besides controlling the feed back freqs, you can pump 250k to fatten the tone of an amplified harp.

But, on these boxes, the most useful feature to control feedback are the gain and volume sliders which act like pre and post controls on a preamp. Using them enables you to reduce the gain of the input signal coming from the mic which is a pretty reliable method of controlling feedback. Also how you adjust the gain and volume sliders in relation to each other helps you shape the tone to get the type of tonal quality you want. The gain and volume sliders are perhaps the most useful feature, but being able to notch down 1K and 2K and boost 250k is pretty helpful, too. Of course the other freqs can also be tweaked.

Very useful and harmonica friendly device.

Btw, leaving the FAT switch OFF on the BJ is a good idea. Turning it on may sound good in your living room, but in a perfromance seting, leaving the FAT switch on is a prescription for feedback. The BJ is a high gain amp anyway. FWIW.
