The silicon tubing that's used for making rigs for carp fishing (and other
types of fishing too apparantly) can be used for this as well - you can buy
yards of the stuff from fishing tackle shops for a couple of squid - lol!
It's just a matter of picking the right diameter for your particular screw.

The slide bumpers (the plastic piping that fits around the mouthpiece
screws) can be prelaced by taking an old ballpoint pen and chopping off a
couple of pieces the same length as the slide bumpers.
Is you 64 the one with the fake woodgrain finish on pinkish colored plastic?
Those do deteriorate. You can shore it up with epoxy, but make sure not to
disturb the flat front surface of the comb where the metal backing plate for
the slide makes contact.

My old 64 is deteriorating around the screw holes which hold down the mouth
piece.
I have considered re affixing/reinforcing the brass nuts with epoxy. Anyone
been here before me, with a suggestion? Also the insulat'n , looks like
surgical hose, on the screws and seems to double as a stop for the the slide
is wear'n down and the slide thunks on return. sending it in for a
tune-up... no can do now ...i got a gig on the 25th.
Thanks in advance....for DIY tips Ben ' WBjr' Ross
