[Harp-L] Re: Harpapalooza

About time you join Nate. :)

Harpapalooza is a pretty cool event. Nate's band is the hardest working blues band in Central PA and beyond, gigging up and down the Mid Atlantic region any night of the week.
He always books a variety of harp players from the Mid Atlantic area for Harpapalooza, not just the local yocals like me. This gives most of us as players and fans a chance to check out harpists that we would have never gotten to know otherwise.

The benefit had some bumps in the early years but you live and learn and it just gets better as time goes on for both the players and fans. Good you hung in there Nate. ;-)

I talked to Guyger 2 days before I knew he was playing the benefit. He told me I could sell off some of his extra chromes I had sitting in the shop so I decided to recondition one for use in the auction.
A black comb 280. I'll try to get him to autograph it with my engraver before the auction.

The ABC Brewery is in a converted 3 story warehouse. The 2nd floor houses a big stage with pro. lighting and house sound system. Great tasting micro-brews. Easy to get too from Baltimore,DC Philly and places east. I've missed it the past couple of years helping my wife work a craft show out of town that falls that same weekend. I'll be supporting it this year.

Hi everyone! My name is Nate. My band is called Nate Myers & the Aces from Harrisburg, PA. I am new to harp-l and not real familiar with the etiquette here. I understand that posting gigs is not really appropriate. However, I wanted to let you all know about an annual benefit concert here in Harrisburg. The event is called "HARPAPALOOZA" and is a benefit concert held each year to raise money for Diabetes research. The money raised at the event goes directly to the American Diabetes Association. We are in our 6th year and we have already raised thousands of dollars for the ADA!

Each year, we feature 4-5 harp players from the region. Each performer plays a set, backed by the house band consisting of members of my band and a few special guests. In past years, we featured a few harp-l members you may know, such as Dane Paul Russell, Mike Easton and James Day (and hopefully, they'll be willing to volunteer their time again in the future!). Also, Scott from Meteor Amplifiers will be graciously providing two of his amazing amps for the performers to use on stage!

HARPAPALOOZA 6 will be held on Saturday, May 8, 2010, at the Appalachian Brewing Company in Harrisburg, PA. This year's featured players are STEVE GUYGER (from Phiadelphia, PA), GLENN MOOMAU (from Baltimore, MD), JIM PHIPPS (from Lancaster, PA), CHARLIE KNIGHT (from West Chester, PA) and I'll be doing a set as well.

There will also be a silent auction and 50/50 drawing! It is gonna be a great night of harp and a great cause! I hope some of you will be able to make it!
