[Harp-L] Suzulki Chromatix for sale

Hi People,

I am selling my Suzuki Chromatix 4 octave (16-hole) chromatic. I've just
purchased a Saxony from David Payne so I want to re-coup some of the cost by
selling this Suzuki. You may have read my most recent posts wherein I say I
don't like this harmonica and that I think it sucks. I still don't like
this harp very much but I can say these good things about it: The harp and
its case are in perfect condition, every note works perfectly all are
perfectly in tune. The valves all work well although the valves on 1
through 4 buzz some until it's warmed up.

This isn't, in my opinion, a very loud harmonica, and it *does* seem very
leaky to me although I can't hear any hissing or anything like that.

Actually, I just went and got it and as I sit here playing it, it seems to
be working really nicely. It's still not loud enough for my taste but there
is no buzzing on the valves at all and I haven't played it for a month. The
slide is totally silent and wasn't stuck like my 270 but it seems kind of
"thick" and slow if that makes any sense. After wiping off the cover plates
with a micro-fiber towel I do see that there is a very small scratch next to
the "I" (in Suzuki) on the bottom cover plate. Other than that the covers
are really nice. The mouth piece is in good shape too. The tone on this
harp is kind of dark and round and mellow and lacks the brightness of the
270 I currently own; that's another reason I'm not crazy about it. But
other people might like this.

One Hour Later..

Okay, so I just disassembled the slide assembly and I saw that it was pretty
scummy so I cleaned everything with PB blaster and a dish rag, rinsed it
with Purple Power, then dish soap, dried it, sprayed it down with Pam canola
oil spray and then wiped it off. I also noticed that the front lip of the
bottom cover plate had slipped over the front edge of the reed plate so I
repositioned that as well. When loosening the plates I decided to remove
them and I found that 4 of the reed plate screws were a little loose so I
tightened them down too. I reassembled the slide and mouthpiece and then
repositioned the cover plates (again) and screwed everything down snugly.
And you know what folks? This harp plays great all the way up to the 16th
hole; no valve buzzing, no leaky-ness. In fact, it plays perfectly. And it's
a little louder too, though it's still not as bright as I'd like it to be.
So except for the tiny scratch next to the "I" in "Suzuki" on the bottom
cover plate this harmonica is in nearly perfect condition. The case is in
great condition too but it does have some wear marks on it. I almost don't
want to sell it now!

I got this harmonica about six years ago and I've read that Suzuki has since
changed the mouth-piece design so anyone interested should know that this
SCX-64 has the original mouth-piece design.

I see that the SCX-64s are currently selling for $189.00 plus shipping.
I'll take $120.00. That's $69.00 less than a new one and I'll ship it
(carefully packed) for free. If anyone wants to see pictures I can email
you a couple.

So if anyone is interested email me off-list.
