A few years ago, at one of the NY harp club meetings hosted by Rob Paparozzi and Wade Schuman at Wade's place, Charlie Leighton played the most beautiful version of "Body and Soul" I have ever heard, bar none. Fortunately for all of us forever, Charlie left behind a lot of recordings, many engineered by himself, that clearly demonstrate his brilliant musicianship on the harmonica. He had few peers and a lot of friends, and was a mentor to many of the best players in New York, meaning in the world.
RIP Charlie.
Regards, Richard Hunter
