Classes start tomorrow, Saturday, September 26 (sorry for
the short notice).

Â

Chromatic Harmonica 101, Section 1 is a ten-week course for
players either new to the chromatic or wanting to improve their chops. This
semester Damien Masterson has handed most of the teaching duties over to
Winslow Yerxa but will still make cameo appearances. They will work with you to
assess your skill level, and teach you what you need to gain basic fluency on
the chromatic Âwhile also covering the
fundamentals of music theory and improvisation needed to play jazz.

Â

Harmonica Ensemble updates the harmonica band with weekly
sessions of learning to play in perfect synchronization with a group, whether
youâre playing melody, harmony, rhythm chords, or bass. Both soloing and ensemble
playing will be featured. Professional arrangements tailored to the abilities
of the class members will emphasize rhythmic togetherness and groove, group
dynamics and volume, harmony and blending, and supporting others when they
solo. Taught by members of the San Francisco Harmonica Ensemble: Damien
Masterson, Winslow Yerxa, Michael Peloquin, and Steve Malerbi.
