[Harp-L] Re: Place FreeAmp25.dll into the VSTplugin directory of your host.
N-Track Studio is free, but it's virtually free and fully functional.
I've been using it for years and find it on par with most of the Pro
Tools and Cakewalks of the world.

Reaper is another shareware host that you can try for free, and a lot of people like it. You can also check kvraudio.com for free VST host programs--there are some tools out there, like Chainer, that will simply host a VST, and they're easier to set up and use than a typical DAW (and of course have far fewer features as well, so they're easier to learn).

The audio interfaces that come stock with most computers are really not very good, and much better ones can be had for less than $100. A number of interfaces ship with DAW software as part of the package, so you can solve two problems by choosing the right interface. The latest Digitech devices, like the RP150/250/350 etc., also function as audio interfaces (and also come with Cubase LE DAW software), though it seems a little strange to buy a hardware amp modeler to get DAW software that you can use as the host for a software amp modeler.
