Hi,
It's probably a wise move because just as there are many players who don't care for JI, there are also a huge amount of players who don't care for ET, and so the compromise tuning makes more sense because it makes it more versatile and will appeal to a wider variety of markets/musical genres, On the other hand, I hope that there will be going to be a far better track record of consistency with it because with the Hohner cmpromise tunings they presently use, there has been a huge lack of consistency from harp to harp, wheras when they were JI, the tuning was conisderably more consistent from harp to harp. The only compromise tuned harps with a consistent tuning from harp to harp is Seydel, and their compromise tuning is essentially JI, except for the 5 & 9 draw, which is tuned 2 cents flat, wheras 7LJI would have those two notes tuned 29 cents flat and 19LJI would have those two tuned at 3 cents sharp.
I've recently preordred one myself and Abe Thomas from Suzuki USA has promised to email me the exact tuning scheme for the comprimise tuning that they're using on them.
Sincerely,

My preference would be JI but since I seldom if ever buy a stock
harmonica the manufacturers are wisely ignoring my wants. fjm
