Re: [Harp-L] older shure hi-z vocal mics

Paul, most Shure mics have a transformer inside whether they're hi or low impedance. Some, like most 545's, have a dual impedance transformer meaning you can choose low- or hi-Z output - note that the transformer is used in both cases. Hi-Z-only mics like the PE54 variant of the 545 still had a transformer inside. The output of the elements in Shure stick mics is almost never "straight through" to the pins.

Subject: [Harp-L] older shure hi-z vocal mics

Do the older shure vocal mics, 515, 585, 545 etc. have hi-z elements or are they lo-z with a transformer inside? Thanks!
