I've used the smallest and cheapest Pignose battery powered amp on hundreds 
 of recording sessions for more than 13 years now. It is great  for  
recording because it isn't at all loud, and there is no "mains hum"... I have  
found that amps that plug into the A.C. mains electricity mostly "hum" at low  
volume.
I've often been asked when folks have heard the final recording "What harp  
tube amp did you use?"
