[Harp-L] Subject: Re: Smo-Joe's math/Charlie McCoy Sessions
Hey Rick, even I immediately noticed that Smokey's 1,095 figure was 3x 365,
lol...and math wasn't my major, although I am good at it. I figured he
simply was counting 3 sessions a day to show the absurdity in the assumption
that any human (even a great musician like his friend Charlie McCoy - or
even Tommy Reilly for that matter) could fit that kind of schedule into their
lives. (I mean, weekends and holidays are included if we're actually
talking 365 days a year!) Clearly the '222' was a typo.
I know how Smokey is with facts and figures...this is somebody who'd catch
the bank in a checking account error of less than a dollar and go down
there to make them fix it. So I'd sure trust him with my accounting<G>.
Believe me, he really IS a whiz at math.

I purposefully TRIPLED the figures to see if everyone was paying
attention. 12,000 sessions would be 32.8767 YEARS at one per DAY. OR,
49.3 PLUS years at one every DAY & a HALF. Hah, that's a laugh. I
believe it was little Jimmy Dickens who was the first to break the
'300 shows a year' barrier. Nope, I believe that the 'Theys that
say' are wrong. I think we would be hard to pressed to find 12,ooo
harmonica sessions PERIOD. It isn't unusual for a fan to over
emphasize their hero's accomplishments in an attempt to add to their
esteem. I don't think it's necessary in this case. Charlie is a bad
hombre.
BTW, did you see the 222 years? (giggle). btw(2) My college training
is automated business systems & accounting. (chortle).
