Re: [Harp-L] Peter Green update..
Well, there are quite a few bootleg recordings from then
of Peter Green and Fleetwood Mac, and they are not
all that low volume gigs(think Green Manalishi). I am in agreement
about the first three Mac LPs( including English Rose) that
they really got the tones down. Fleetwood Mac in Chicago
was one of the LPs that brought me to the real stuff. As far
as Gary Moore, i don't like him at all, 'Still got the Blues'
just doesn't cut it to me, but to each his own. Peter Green's
resurgence on to the scene has been a little underwhelming
as far as what he did before, but I don't think there are many that
can come close to what he did with tone, attack, execution, etc.
on his earliest mac stuff.

Subject: [Harp-L] Peter Green update..
I was reminded how good Peter played through the suggestions of a few on the
"L". Great stuff. How come the Brits in the early 60's, 70's seemed to get that
aspect of ODBG sound (lower volume, attention paid to the ensemble sound) so
much better than US white musicians, who favored VOLUME and power trio approach?
GREEN ON GREEN
Two Peter Green solo album reissues, 'Little Dreamer' from 1980
features Fairport Convention drummer Dave Mattacks. Green continues in
a funky vein with "Mama Don't You Cry," as if shaking off
the cobwebs and actually trying to pay attention to the current scene.
He goes right back to his roots on the album's third tune with
"Born Under a Bad Sign" and stays with blues derivatives the
rest of the way. The album-ending title track sounds like a
seven-minute version of the dreamy Green tune "Albatross," a
hit for Fleetwood Mac in the '60s..." Due May 25.
The second,?'In The Skies'?from 1979,? comes after
almost a decade of personal, drug-addled hell since his 1970 debut.
Although Green shares lead guitar work with Snowy White, it's clear
from his fluid technique and haunting tone that he can still play.
"A Fool No More" is the kind of slow blues Green excels at.
Five of the nine songs are instrumentals. Due July 27. Info from All
Music Guide.
