I use only a zoom h4 as computer I/o  interface. It works extremely well and mac software detects it automatically. You have to experiment a bit with the input gain switch to get good results. Richard

Thanks for the replies.  I have used Samplitude years ago, Sound Forge and
have Samplitude/Magix Music Maker 14 and it is not very friendly.  I don't
want to have to understand how the engine runs.......I just want to drive
the car!  Some of these have a vertical learning curve. The plug ins and the
loops are important for practice.  BTW......can a Zoom H-4 be used as a USB
interface for PC??
