[Harp-L] Unsolicited Mic Refurb Endorsement
Hi Gang,
Recently, I purchased a really phenomenal Shure 540s mic from a 1960/70s
blues guy who was selling off some of his collection. While the condition of
the mic was good, the cable was a ratty old double screw-on connector type.
I sent the mic to Greg Heumann at BlowsMeAway.com to have him refurb the
mic, build a new cable with a 1/4 plug and add one of his volume control
devices. Greg fixed the dented cover plate, cleaned up the gunk, added a gorgeous
20 foot cable with plug-in - that alone has reduced the noise on the mic - and
inserted his neat volume control where the on/off switch had been. All for
less than a hundred bucks.
I now have a gleaming vintage Shure, with the best tone I've found to date,
along with superior volume and feedback control. Greg didn't ask me for any
endorsement - he doesn't know I'm sending this note - but I felt compelled to
spread the word about his incredible service and products.
Hope this info is useful.
