[Harp-L] silver solder (WAS: how far?)

I have been scraping reed for years. Good results, too.
But now that I wanted to try some tunings with pitches
farther than scraping can take me, Silver solder is
PERFECT! 
 
At Gary's recommendation, I picked up the solder and
the battery soldering iron today. (Yes, I'm practicing
on an old harp first)
 
And thank you to all who pitched in a idea for my
questions. Very much appreciated.
