Re: [Harp-L] Dead single reeds
I sat at SPAH one year and watched Jimmy Gordon demonstrate reed scavenging.
He basically stole a reed of similar length
from a donor harp and transplanted it. I remember him having to shorten the
reed slightly but I'm not sure how he did that part.
Basically he made the reed fit, massaged it into tune and viola, like new
again.

There were some good suggestions for the reed removal, thanks.
However the next problem is: where is the supplier of the replacement
reeds
and rivets/screws?
I've seen Seydel's excellent site, but suspect that trying their single
reeds on a different harp
isn't going to work?
I use Hohners, and the sole importer in South Africa doesn't even import
replacement reed plate sets. Apparently "no-one wants them".
Any suggestions please?
