I use the Weber Copper Cap Rectifiers in most of my harp amps, and I can't
hear any degrading of the tone. One common myth is that these solid state
rectifiers will "slam" the amp on immediately, without the delay you get
with a tube recto warming up. Not true... The Weber Copper Caps take a few
seconds to get going, just like your 5Y3 tube.
I do know amp tech purists who frown on these Copper Caps, but I have no
complaints after using them for hundreds of hours. Good tone and they have
never failed.
